What is Escape the Routine?

Escape the Routine is an event design and production company based in San Francisco that produces events around the world. Its site lists San Francisco, New York, San Diego, Salt Lake City, Washington, D.C. and London among the places it works. Its services include full-service production of company events, workplace events, corporate retreats and marketing events for brands. It also runs public music events under the Escape the Routine name and offers a catalog of virtual events. Two published case studies are multi-day company retreats. For Seesaw, the team handled full-service planning of a company retreat for remote employees at Paradise Point Resort in San Diego. The program ran over three nights with general sessions, breakouts, team activities and themed parties, including a tropical theme, dueling pianos, mini golf and soccer matches. Escape the Routine's role covered team-building design, entertainment sourcing, aesthetic direction and AV support. Miranne Walker, Executive Assistant at Seesaw, wrote on the company's site that the team was "incredibly organized, creative, responsive, and patient throughout the entire process." For the Stellar Development Foundation's annual retreat, the company turned a vacant office space into a temporary office for a company-wide offsite, with the remote team flying in for the week. The team handled venue selection, spatial design and layout, decor, furniture sourcing, custom fabrication, staging, audio and a full catering program, so the space could host keynotes, daily meals and a lounge for coworking. Company celebrations make up much of the rest of the portfolio. Case studies include holiday parties for Figma in 2023 and 2024 and an après-ski party for Figure at Mountain Winery in Saratoga, along with Blank Cassette, a recurring branded concert series presented by Flower Co. The company describes its retreat service as end-to-end, from scouting the location and building the agenda to arranging travel and running the days on site, and says it plans company-wide retreats, executive offsites and sales kickoffs.
