What is Twenty Eight Events?

Twenty Eight Events is a Los Angeles event planning and production company founded by Samantha Pena. It began in 2014 and became its own company in 2018, and on its site it lists five kinds of work: seminars, networking events, masterminds and retreats, private parties and trade show booths. By its own count it has produced more than 350 events across 12 countries and 31 cities. Retreats have a dedicated place in that offering. The firm describes them as small group retreats and boardrooms "where the room is the whole product," and handles venue search and travel along with the program, dining and hosting. For MaxWeb it planned a retreat in Cyprus that opened with a welcome party by the pool, spent a day in Cyprus wine country and closed with a Casino Royale dinner. For Gorgias it hosted an ambassador retreat for community leaders at an open-air coastal venue, with a Hawaiian dance performance on the beach, and for Agoge Consulting it ran a CEO mastermind at a private house with welcome gifts and meals from a private chef. Much of the rest of the portfolio is conference and brand work for ecommerce and media clients, including The Whalies awards for Triple Whale in New York and Los Angeles, Gorgias Connect in Los Angeles, and a Lionsgate summit for writers, directors and producers from underrepresented backgrounds. Samantha says she started the company after walking into too many well-funded corporate events with no ideas, and she still leads event vision, design and on-site management. Each coordinator on the team owns one part of the job, from venue and vendor management to booths, guest services, hotel room blocks and off-site activities.
