Q1 Sales Kickoff (SKO) destinations from Denver

Denver teams have two very different Q1 choices. Stay in Colorado and drive about two hours west on I-70 to Vail and Beaver Creek for snow, or fly about two hours to the warm, dry desert of Scottsdale or Tucson, or to the mild coast of San Diego.

Vail / Beaver Creek, CO

Vail / Beaver Creek, CO Drive · approx. 2–2.5 h (I-70 winter conditions vary)

February

March

For a Colorado team, the mountains are home ground: no airport, and a ski afternoon that most of the group already knows how to enjoy. Q1 falls in the heart of Beaver Creek's ski season.

Venue types for about 50–300 people: Mountain lodge / ski resort conference center; Resort with conference space.

Vail averages a January high of about 28°F. I-70 can close or slow in storms, so keep arrival flexible.

Vail / Beaver Creek, CO

Park Hyatt Beaver Creek sits at the base of the mountain. Its 8,631-square-foot Sawatch Hall seats up to 600 for a banquet, so a Denver group of about 200 can hold the kickoff dinner and the plenary in the same room, then walk to the lifts.

The WM Phoenix Open week, February 8–14, 2027, drives up rates across Scottsdale.

Staying local.

Vail is about 100 miles from Denver, roughly 2 hours on I-70 in clear weather, and Beaver Creek a little longer. On ski weekends or in storms, allow 2.5–3 hours or more.

A sample two- to three-day agenda.

In the mountains, start at 8, finish the main session by early afternoon, and leave the rest of the day for the slopes. In the desert, plan outdoor evenings. In San Diego, a harborfront reception is the natural awards night.

  1. Day 0. Arrivals and a welcome reception.
  2. Day 1. CEO or CRO keynote, product and compensation-plan sessions, segment breakouts, and a team dinner.
  3. Day 2. Enablement workshops and role-play, a customer or partner panel, and an awards night.
  4. Day 3, optional. A half-day leadership session, then departures.

Questions planners ask first.

Short answers for a Q1 sales kickoff.

Can a Denver team hold the kickoff without flying?

Yes. Vail and Beaver Creek are about 2 hours on I-70. Plan for winter road conditions, and schedule arrival on a weekday morning, which usually avoids ski-weekend traffic.

Which mountain hotel can host about 200 people?

Park Hyatt Beaver Creek. Its largest room, Sawatch Hall, is 8,631 square feet and seats up to 600 for a banquet or 450 classroom-style.

Where is it warmest in Q1?

Scottsdale (measured at Phoenix Sky Harbor) averages about 68°F by day in January, with Tucson close behind at about 67°F. San Diego is steadier at about 66–67°F all quarter.

Which Q1 weeks are busiest?

In 2027, the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show runs February 11–14 and the WM Phoenix Open week February 8–14. The Sentry is at Torrey Pines in San Diego from January 27 to 30.

How many days should a Denver kickoff run?

Two working days plus an arrival evening fits all four. In the mountains, an extra half day helps when I-70 weather slows the drive home.
