Q2 Sales Kickoff (SKO) destinations from Atlanta

Atlanta's Q2 shortlist stays close to home: Amelia Island, Savannah, New Orleans and Charleston are each an hour or so by air, and Savannah is a drive. April and May are the sweet spot on this coast, before June heat and the start of hurricane season.

Along the Southeast coast, April and May bring highs in the high 70s to mid 80s. June is hotter and wetter, and the Atlantic hurricane season begins on June 1.

Staying local.

An in-state option is Savannah, roughly 250 miles southeast by I-75 and I-16. Plan on 3.5 to 4 hours by car, or a nonstop of about an hour.

A sample two- to three-day agenda.

Charleston and Savannah reward walking: hold sessions by day and let teams split up for dinner. On Amelia Island the resort is the venue, so put the awards dinner outside. New Orleans works best with a night planned for live music.

  1. Day 0. Arrivals and a welcome reception.
  2. Day 1. CEO or CRO keynote, product and compensation-plan sessions, segment breakouts, and a team dinner.
  3. Day 2. Enablement workshops and role-play, a customer or partner panel, and an awards night.
  4. Day 3, optional. A half-day leadership session, then departures.

Questions planners ask first.

Short answers for a Q1 sales kickoff.

Which Q2 destination can an Atlanta team reach by car?

Savannah. The drive is about 3.5 to 4 hours, and Charleston is about 5.

Why is Miami not on the Q2 list?

South Florida's rainy season begins in late spring and June is hot. Charleston gives similar coastal appeal with milder averages in April and May.

What 2027 spring events affect Atlanta's options?

The Savannah Music Festival (April 2–17), Jazz Fest in New Orleans (April 22–25 and April 29–May 2), the Shrimp Festival on Amelia Island (April 29–May 2) and Spoleto in Charleston (May 28–June 13).

Is June a good month for these coastal cities?

It can work, but average highs reach the high 80s to 90°F and rain increases. April and May are more comfortable.

Which venue has the most meeting space?

The New Orleans Marriott has about 84,000 square feet of meeting space, and the Omni Amelia Island Resort has roughly 80,000 square feet indoors and out.
