Q3 Sales Kickoff (SKO) destinations from SF Bay Area

San Francisco has five Q3 options: Napa, Monterey and Lake Tahoe by car, and Santa Barbara and San Diego by short flight. Summer is the best season for Tahoe, harvest begins in Napa, and the Southern California coast is at its sunniest.

Bay Area summers are cool and foggy, while these destinations are mostly warm and dry. Napa and Tahoe sit in the high 70s to about 80°F, San Diego and Santa Barbara in the mid to upper 70s, and Monterey in the high 60s.

Staying local.

In summer traffic, allow 1 to 1.5 hours for the 50 miles to Napa. Plan on about 2 hours to Monterey and 3.5 to 4 hours over I-80 to Tahoe.

A sample two- to three-day agenda.

At Tahoe, hold sessions in the morning and put the team on the water in the afternoon. In Napa, finish with a harvest dinner. Monterey suits golf or a walk along the coast. San Diego and Santa Barbara both work for a beachfront evening.

  1. Day 0. Arrivals and a welcome reception.
  2. Day 1. CEO or CRO keynote, product and compensation-plan sessions, segment breakouts, and a team dinner.
  3. Day 2. Enablement workshops and role-play, a customer or partner panel, and an awards night.
  4. Day 3, optional. A half-day leadership session, then departures.
